Diamonds in the Sky

2014 Malta Junior Eurovision representative, Federica Falzon, sits down in an exclusive interview with Muzika Recruitment Agency. She recounts her story, experiences, dreams and aspirations.

 

Starting her career at age 8, this year Federica celebrates a decade old career in singing and the music industry. Nowadays, she is a mezzo-soprano with ambitious pursuits and a passion for music. ‘Music means a lot to me. I don’t think I would live without music as it’s a very big part of my life’, she says.

 

2014 was arguably her busiest year yet, representing the nation with the song ‘Diamonds’ in the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest and placing in a very respectable 4th place. ‘Diamonds’ delivers a message of hope and courage, a fitting message which remains relevant, even in 2021. Reflecting back on her experience, she described it as surreal, commenting that music ‘helps me enjoy the good things’.

 

Perhaps quite uniquely, Federica is an opera aficionado and her style is very operatic, reflecting her mezzo-soprano range. Asked about why she loves the singing style she chose, Federica admitted that in today’s modern world, singing classical is not an easy feat. ‘I wasn’t always so sure about being a classical singer because I used to think that if people my age heard me sing opera they would make fun of me or something’ said Federica. However, ‘I learned to appreciate the genre and I know how much hard work goes into singing this genre’, she concluded.
