Singing from the Heart

Muzika Muzika 2021 Finalist, San Remo Maltese Representative and XFactor Participant Miguel Bonello, sits down in an exclusive interview with Muzika Recruitment Agency. He recounts his hobbies, experiences, dreams and aspirations.

Miguel Bonello is a pop singer, who has had a love for music ever since he was young. He states that, ‘Music has always been a big part of my life. From a young age, I expressed myself with the use of music as it allowed me to be myself without any limitations’. Miguel’s passion for music is, in fact, very evident in his daily life. ‘Without music, I would find it quite hard to cope with anything that goes on in day-to-day life as I’m always listening to music or experimenting on new pieces!’, he admitted.

Miguel definitely has a great deal of experience as a singer under his belt. One of his most recent appearances was in Muzika Muzika - Il Festival tal-Kanzunetta Maltija 2021, with his original single ‘Sinfonija Hiemda’. This catchy tune has become a playlist favourite for many, especially since its message is a powerful one, encouraging others not to judge and make assumptions. With his original, Miguel made it to the finals and placed 10th after his song was shortlisted to the semi-finials from 140 other participant songs. ‘Sinfonija Hiemda’ was Miguel’s first original song in Maltese. He, however, has many other experiences, having participated in XFactor Malta and representing Malta in San Remo Junior.

Miguel’s style, whilst verging on the pop side, is very unique and he manages to make it his own. Asked why he loves the style he chose, Miguel commented that, ‘When an artist finds out exactly what style they’re into, what message they’re trying to deliver and other factors, it gives them the space and time to keep on evolving their talent and reaching their true potential with the given style’.
